Below you will find a guide to obtaining a handicap. The handicap team are available to answer any queries you may have on handicap matters.

For new ladies joining a club the rules and regulations may seem daunting, so let’s try to get you get started by first giving you the basics of how to obtain a handicap.

Before going out to play you must register your intention to do so by signing your name in the New Handicaps book, which is available on the desk in the Ladies locker room.

Play in twos

Complete score cards totalling 54 holes. These can be any of the following combinations:
3 x 18 holes
2 x 18 holes plus 2x 9 holes
1 x 18 holes plus 4 x 9 holes
6 x 9 holes
IMPORTANT
If you elect to play 9 holes, these must be played on the front 9 on the Priory Course.
Only one card can be completed in each day

Please ensure that your name and date are on each card submitted and are signed by both you and the marker. Indicate on the top whether it is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd card etc.

One card should preferably be marked by a member of the committee. All markers must have or have had a handicap.

When all cards have been completed, you will be issued with a handicap certificate which you can collect from the handicap folder in the locker room.

Once a player has a handicap she is eligible to compete in all club competitions

If the cards are acceptable you will be allotted a handicap maximum 36 if your score is equal to or more than 36 over the standard scratch of the course and a handicap lower if your score is less than 36 over standard scratch.

[e.g.: your total score is 110 on the Moorland course and the SS is 74

110-74=36

 You will need to play in at least 3 Medal,Stableford or Par competitions each season to keep your handicap Active
